  • SURUGA SEIKI Taiwan was recently invited to participate in an exclusive interview with TVBS News, where CTO Hevin Yu shared his perspectives on the evolving silicon photonics ecosystem and the industry's transition toward mass production. During the interview, he identified three major challenges that manufacturers must address to achieve scalable production: material consistency, precision metrology, and heterogeneous integration.

    Compared with conventional electronic packaging, silicon photonics packaging demands substantially higher alignment accuracy due to the stringent optical coupling requirements of photonic devices. As the technology matures, industry discussions are shifting beyond the need for active alignment to a broader focus on how manufacturers can implement faster, more reliable, and higher-yield production processes to support commercial-scale deployment.

  • In 2025, Suruga Seiki Co., Ltd.'s SI Division participated as a sponsor and exhibited products at BICOP (British and Irish Conference on Optics and Photonics), held in London, UK from December 16th to 18th. BICOP is the UK and Ireland's leading international conference in the fields of optics and photonics, innovations and development results. This year, there were many presentations on data centers, AI, quantum, and silicon photonics, which are areas where market expansion is expected. At the event, we were able to directly explain to many visitors about the automatic alignment core unit we developed for R&D purposes that can be used to evaluate silicon photonics chips, which sparked their interest. We also showed off some new options.
    We provide time value to our customers in the European region through our products.
